Term 3 Week 5

This week we have had Maddie from AUT working with us and we love having her teach us.

Aniva

On Mondays we have fun playing different games on the courts. My favourite part is when we have to run round the boundary of the court for our warm up. We play throwing games with the bean bags, we play soccer skill games, jump jam dancing and other games. Caroline blows the whistle and we have to put the ball between our feet like a penguin.

Aniva being a penguin. Good listening!

G

We watched a video about an endangered Green Turtle eating sea grass. I wrote a story about a turtle and drew a picture. The turtle in my picture was licking his lips. I have named him Needlethread.

Term 3 Week 4

This week on Thursday we had our Celebraton of Learning. We enjoyed singing to the visitors with the whole school and welcoming our friends and family into our classroom.Thank you for coming:)

Beata

This week we have been learning about a story called The Little Goat's Coat. We have been making pictures and writing stories about the Little Goat. We drew round a template of the goat and used strips of paper to make his curly coat. Then we made a background for him to go on. We also have written a story from the goat's point of view.

Term 3 Week 3

For the next few weeks we will write about what three children have been doing during the week.

Leo

I like doing the maths that we get given in class. I like being able to colour in the picture after we have done the maths. We have been learning about fractions, a fraction is written with a number on the top a line underneath and another number on the bottom.

Lillie

I liked writing the story about the chicken. We read a book called The Safe Place and then we retold the story at Guided Writing. We made a picture of the hen by cutting out pieces of paper to make feathers.

Angie

I like doing the tumble because we learn new things. The tumble is like a circle rolling and we move round different activities. One of my favourites is reading in the class library.

Term 3 Week 2

Cold Dry Ice

On Wednesday afternoon we went into Room 8's shared space to look at some dry ice that a parent had bought into school for us to look at and do some experiments.

The dry ice was stored in a special chilly bin that kept it very cold and frozen. The ice looked like small rectangular blocks and they were very white and solid.

We had a glass bowl which we put some dry ice into.

We added some water and then we watched it make steam that flowed out of the bowl and across the table.

After this we added some washing up liquid and watched it bubble up.

" I liked when the dry ice blew up like a volcano erupting.  I wonder why the ice made steam that looked like it was hot but it was freezing, " said Beata

Term 2 Week 2

ANZAC DAY

Last week we had a remembrance ceremony at school under the big tree on the front lawn. You may have seen the white crosses set out to represent the soldiers who had died in the World Wars.

We came back to class and had lots of questions and comments to make about the experience.

It was a very special occasion and it was very moving.

On Anzac day many of us went to the Dawn Parade.

" My Great, Great, Great Grandpa was in the First World War," said Mia.

" At the Street Dawn Parade we were holding poppies," said Leo.
